A Homecoming for South African Cuisine

Returning home after earning global acclaim with his Michelin-starred JAN restaurant in Nice, Chef Jan Hendrik reimagines classic South African flavors for a new audience. At JAN Franschhoek, every menu is a heartfelt tribute to the stories, landscapes, and ingredients that make this corner of the world so special.

The adventure begins at La Motte’s Manor House, where guests gather for a welcome and aperitif before being whisked away to the intimate Veepos. The dining room, limited to only 18 guests per evening, sits amidst breathtaking scenery – a feast for all the senses.

Season III: A New Chapter

The much-anticipated Season III (September 2024 – April 2025) brings a renewed focus on hearty, locally inspired cuisine. Together with Head Chef Lara van Heerden – who recently completed culinary training in France – Jan and his team celebrate the best of the Western Cape, transforming humble ingredients into world-class dishes that surprise and delight.

Expect multi-course tasting menus paired with outstanding La Motte wines. Each plate is a dialogue between past and present, nostalgia and reinvention, set in a space where stories are shared around a communal table.
